When & Where?

National Minimus Championships will be held at Millstreet Green Glens Arena on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of June 2019

What Age must I be?

You must be Under 12 on January 1st and you must be of D+ standard. DC must be happy that you are capable of riding a Xc course of 80cm and that you can swim unaided for at least 1 full length of the pool.

How far must I Run & Swim?

You must Run 1km as fast as you can and the faster you are the more points you get. At the Swim phase, you must swim as many lengths of the pool as you can in 2 minutes. You get points for every metre you swim. If you are a nervous swimmer, you can ask for an outside lane. but this can't be guaranteed.

How big is the XC?

XC height for 2019 will be 80cm but there will be easier "O" options for less experienced riders. The L options will incurr a small 70 point penalty.  It is strongly recommended that less experienced riders consider taking the "O" fences. You also will have 2 unique obtacles to take on - a Gate and a Slip Rail

How do I do the Gate?

You must ride up to the gate and calmly try to open the gate while still on your pony. Push the gate open, walk through and close the gate behind you. This must be done in 1 minute. It just takes a little bit of practice. If you open the gate but can't close it in the time allowed, don't worry as you will still get some points for opening it.

What do I do at the Slip Rail?

You must ride up to the slip rail, dismount off your pony, open a slip rail and pass through it with your pony, then close the slip rail and remount your pony. This must be done in 1 minute. If you have trouble getting back up onto your pony, you can ask for help and you will get a small amount of penalties.

How is it scored?

  1. XC - You start off with 1400 points but if you have any refuals or time penalties etc you will get penalties which are deducted from your points. In general it is 60 points per problem but there are different penalties for the gate / slip rail and also for falls and options.
  2. Swim - you get 8 points for every metre of the pool you swim. As a guide you get 200 points for every full length of the pool you swim.
  3. Run - you get points per second. In general it's 6 points per second. A very good run would be 4 minutes and would get you 1000 points.
  4. Your 3 scores are added together to give you your overall personal score and placing.
  5. The 3 top scores on your team are added together for your final team score.
  6. New - an extra bonus of 100 points will be given to any team where all riders are clear XC
