Last week I did my first ODE on Romeo in Bunclody. I was nervous because he is only back in competition training and I wasn’t sure how he would go. We worked hard training with Mum all week. On Saturday I spent ages cleaning my tack to make sure Romeo (The Big Bossman) looked his best. Then Mom and I washed Romeo and plaited him. He was all tucked up in bed by 9pm. I was excited and nervous so I didn’t sleep great. On Sunday I got up early to check Romeo was okay and give him his breakfast. He knew he was going off for the day.
I was on at 9.48am so we were up at 6.30am. After our breakfast we put on Romeos tail bandage and loaded him up with Halo and Marsie and off Daddy went through the gate. On the way I went over my dressage test 3 times to make sure I knew it. As we got nearer to Bunclody I got really excited. I love riding there. Last year I came 3rd on Zazoo there so I had lovely memories.
On Saturday the 25th of April I went to the minimus day at Kilquilky house. I had to wake up at 6.30 AM to make sure I was on time, having gotten all my swimming, running & riding gear the previous night. It was a bitterly cold day. My friend Johns mum, Deborah, brought me and my pony up with them. It took two hours to get to Kilquilky & it was around 9.30 when we parked & were ready to walk the XC course, for the first part of the competition.
The course builders had done a new take on the course by putting the first five fences in a sand arena & making six a drop out into the field. It took a while to walk the course & afterwards John & I met our friend Paddy who was competing too. We were all going out after each other. In the XC I went clear & was very proud of Bobbi. Soon after I changed to my running gear & three of us did our warm up stretches. I ran 1k in 3mins 52seconds which is a new best. I was very tired afterwards & was glad that I had a long wait before the swimm...
THIS YEAR ITS MY LAST YEAR IN MINIMUS BUT ,ITS ALSO MY BROTHERS FIRST YEAR 😄. PUNCHESTOWN WAS GREAT WE HAD AN EARLY START FOR SWIMMING.🏊 EVERYONE WAS QUITE NERVOUS, BUT WE ALL DID GREAT. AFTER THAT WE WENT TO THE RUNNING TRACK I WAS VERY NERVOUS BECAUSE IT WAS WINDY AND THE GRASS WAS A LITTLE WET-IT WAS HARD BUT WE GOT THROUGH IT. 🏃AFTERWARDS WE ATE ME AND JOHNS BIRTHDAY CAKE. 🍰LATER WE WALKED THE CROSS COUNTRY COURSE.🏇 WHEN WE WERE IN THE WARM UP ARENA IT STARTED TO LASH RAIN. FINALLY IT WAS MY GO THE STARTER COUNTED DOWN 5...4...3...2...1 AND I WAS OFF 💨 I WAS FIRST OUT FOR LAOIS AND I FLEW THROUGH THE GATE AND THE SLIP RAIL FINE AND THEN IT STARTED TO HAIL STONES. WHEN I CROSSED THE FINISH LINE I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE IT WAS OVER (BUT I WAS HAPPY TO BE OUT OF THE RAIN) 😄AND I HAD REALLY ENJOYED MY DAY AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT MINIMUS 🐎!-HANNAH FLYNN ‼️
